PORTFOLIO
European Oak
European Oak is a real classic for kitchens and creates a stunning bench top. A light to medium toned timber, it has a warm character both in the grain and the end grain.
There is a good reason why European Oak has been used for table tops for centuries, it is hard, durable and with its antibacterial properties, it makes an excellent choice for a kitchen bench.
Our European Oak is sourced from plantations in Western Europe, it is a coarse-textured wood with distinctive growth rings and has medullary rays as a major feature of the quarter sawn staves. The end grain is so impressive it should be featured and not be hidden away.
Currently available in a variety of sizes and thicknesses. Let us know the size you require and we’ll cut it for you.
We also have European Oak Live Edge Table Tops
New – Live Edge Table Tops
A new product in our range, Live Edge Table Tops are available in European Oak and American Walnut
Made from two flitches (slices) of a tree which have the live edge placed on the outside of the table and a cut edge down the middle
Current stock is 2400 long and approximately 1100 wide with a thickness of 45-50mm
Powder coated steel legs can be made on request.
American White Oak
Available as a custom order, American White Oak is similar to the European Oak but we usually laminate them in full staves i.e. wide planks with minimal joins in the length. A few of the more recent orders have been for a more rustic look with big knots, these planks are sometimes hard to find but the character they bring creates an awesome feature.
European Ash
The lightest coloured of our popular species, European Ash is a hard, durable timber that looks the part in any modern kitchen. A medium textured grain that tends to be straight and regular, European Ash, is denser and so heavier than the American Ash generally available in New Zealand.
A few half sheets and are available in 42mm premium sheets and 40mm stock is available, 630 wide in 5.3 metre lengths, other lengths can be cut or widths can be made up to order. Standard B/C grade sheets are available in 5000x650x40.
American Walnut
The deep tones of American Walnut and lovely patterns in the grain make this a simply stunning feature in any home. American Walnut is more consistent than its European cousin in the colour variation between the sapwood and heartwood and the effect is a lovely dark wood surface.
We currently have this in Live Edge Table Tops and manufacture full stave tops to order.
European Walnut
With similar tones to Black or American Walnut, the greater colour variation in European Walnut adds character to this superb timber.
They come in 4000 x 1220 sheets and are available in 19mm and 32mm thick or 4000 x 625 in 40mm thick. Let us know the size you require and we’ll cut it for you.
European Beech
One of our lighter coloured timbers, European Beech is definitely not light in weight. A dense hardwood that is slightly heavier than the European Ash and has a very slight brown or red tint. The character of the grain often shows a lovely fleck and Beech has excellent anti-bacterial properties.
